ABOUT
Dr. McKea Cooper-Miller is an educator, author, and visionary leader dedicated to empowering Black women educators and inspiring the next generation of Black girls. With over twenty years of experience and a Doctorate in Educational Leadership and Policy Studies from Wayne State University, she founded Minds in Action Inc. and Y Not Me to create spaces where mentorship, sisterhood, and purpose meet. Through her speaking, coaching, and writing, Dr. McKea helps others lead with confidence, impact, and joy.
I am an educator, mentor, consultant, and author with a heart for transforming education through relationships, equity, and empowerment. With over 15 years of experience in classrooms, leadership roles, and workforce development, I’ve seen firsthand how powerful student-teacher relationships can shape the lives of Black girls.

As the founder of my own educational consulting and mentorship brand, I work with schools, educators, and families to build culturally affirming learning environments where Black girls are seen, supported, and celebrated. I specialize in mentoring middle, high school, and college girls, coaching educators on relational teaching practices, and guiding schools in equity-centered professional development.

My recent book, Sisterhood in Education: How Black Women Educators Can Shape the Futures of Their Black Girls, reflects my belief that sisterhood and connection are not just values — they’re tools for institutional change.

Whether I’m mentoring a young girl, coaching a new teacher, or speaking at a conference, my mission is clear: to elevate, equip, and empower the next generation of leaders through education rooted in love, justice, and authenticity.
